"A perfectly silly, genius idea" -- David Letterman

The FanGum Gallery

After a few hundred CelebriGum photos, I realized that gum photography was too much fun to keep to myself.  I began soliciting FanGum photos, and in doing so I unleashed a tidal wave of gum creativity.  It soon became apparent that window ledges are only the beginning.  Here are some entries from the February 2013 FanGum Photo Contest, judged by Paul Shaffer:

Mark Gentle's winning entry, taken at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama.  That's a Lockheed A-12 spy plane from the 60's.

Paul gave honorable mention to this pair by Catherine Huggins, taken in the Iowa Governor's Mansion.  Catherine used little glass bases for her family of gum wads, so as not to deface the historic 1869 home.

I especially appreciate Jack O'Brien's Lego recreation of a CelebriGum photo, titled "The Bashful Astronaut."

By Francine Hughes.  That's a hospital morgue tag.

"I Love Lucy"--with Lucy the Elephant, Margate City, New Jersey, by Shirlee DiBacco

Ralph Kramden statue, Port Authority Bus Terminal, New York City, by Cheryl Levenbrown

Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson's car, by Catherine Huggins

By David Kazmierski.  The rules didn't say the gum had to be chewed.

Here are some great examples submitted during 2012, before there was a contest.

And a couple that came in since the contest ended:

Kawartha Highlands, Canada, by Nicole Abi-Najem
(yes, she put the gum there herself)

Chicago White Sox spring training, Glendale, Arizona, by Mitch Robinson

That's a lot of fun creativity.  No need to wait for another contest -- send in new examples anytime to celebrigum@gmail.com!
